Trump Calls for Troops to Guard the Borders

What’s in for the Immigration Caravans

In consultation with the United States Defense secretary James Mattis, Donald trump have announced a change in the security policies, “We’re going to do some things militarily…. Until we can have a wall and proper security, we’re going to be guarding our border with the military.” With many offended and shocked by the remarks, the president has garnered enough support for the need to secure the Americans and their borders. The move as many have it comes as a good strategy to have Congress approve his decision to build a wall at the Mexican border where he would craft immigration policies that are workable and have young people who are protected by the Deferred Action For Childhoods Arrival program to have permanent citizenship.

President trump has defended his move with the claim that it is proper to have military on the borders as opposed to chasing around illegal migrants in the country. “We cannot have people flowing into our country illegally, disappearing, and by the way never showing up for court,” the president said in his address. For the past 20 years, the courts have released a report that over 2.5 illegal migrants into the country were released with the promise of returning to the courts and most of them disappeared into the thin air. This makes the President decision to hand it to the military at the borders hard to argue.

Triggered by the reports of the presence of a caravan of immigrants that was headed from Mexico to America, this boosted his move to secure the Americans. Securing the borders is securing sound policies and entirely legal but the hope for many is that it is short time. Moving the military is not a lasting solution, the illegal immigrants’ entry and the need for a wall still stands. A wall reinforced by the ground or sea, with space based intelligence and surveillance will bring more to the table in protecting our borders.

In 2010, President Barrack Obama sent 1200 to counter illegal migrants and drug trafficking but didn’t go a long way but collapsed. President Bush and Regan made use of the national guards at the border to counter narcotics and illegal migrants but failed. None of the military used force was successful in counteracting narcotics; human trafficking and illegal immigrants into the American soil gave a lasting solution.

The moves opened a channel for each government to rethink of the country’s way to strengthen the federal laws, rethink of the immigrants issue and pay close attention to the border. The same case applies to Donald Trump’s moves, it is advisable and wise especially to the Mexican immigrants’ caravans that are testing the American’s authority.
